Almost 70% of our planet comprises of water bodies. These water bodies hold a great deal of untapped power. It is estimated that only 0.2% of this untapped energy can charge up the whole of this earth! Ocean energy can be utilized to deliver high outputs indefinitely.

Ocean energies are present in various forms. The most common form of energy is the hydroelectric energy. The hydroelectric energy uses a dam, wherein the energy of the water flow is captured and used to power a turbine. The turbine then generates a supplementary form of electricity. Besides generating energy by storing the ocean water, energy can also be produced by using the natural power of the tides. The tides occur reliably and predictably. The high tides, occurring periodically, is captured and fed to a generator to produce electricity.

Ocean Power Energy can be produced using the OTEC or Ocean thermal energy conversion method, which takes into advantage the temperature difference in surface water and the deep water. The surface water of the ocean is warmer than the deep water of the ocean.
